Shimano 26 Stella SW 5000 HGD Spinning Reel
Built for Extreme Saltwater Performance
The Shimano Stella SW is engineered for anglers who demand maximum strength, durability and reliability in demanding saltwater conditions. Offered in 8000, 10000 and 14000 sizes, the reel combines a highly rigid HAGANE Body with Shimano's advanced gear technologies to deliver exceptional power while keeping body movement and flex to a minimum.
At the core of the reel is the precision-engineered HAGANE Gear, produced using Shimano's cold-forging process. This creates a strong and durable gear system that delivers smooth, dependable performance even under heavy load.
Infinity Drive enhances the winding experience by reducing rotational resistance and increasing winding torque by up to 26%, making it easier to retrieve under pressure. Working alongside this is Silent Drive, which minimises internal play and vibration to create an exceptionally smooth and quiet retrieve.
Heat management is another key feature of the Stella SW. Shimano's Heatsink Drag helps move heat away from the spool, reducing spool surface temperature by up to 30% during demanding fights. This helps maintain more consistent drag performance when battling powerful fish.
Built specifically for harsh marine environments, X PROTECT and X SHIELD provide multiple levels of protection against saltwater intrusion. The result is a reel that is lighter, stronger and more dependable, giving serious saltwater anglers the confidence to fish in tough conditions.
Note: The 8000-size models are designed for use with braided line only.
FEATURES
HAGANE
HAGANE is Shimano's core reel construction philosophy, developed to provide exceptional strength and long-term durability. It combines advanced materials and precision manufacturing to create a reel capable of handling repeated use and demanding fishing conditions.
HAGANE GEAR
Shimano's HAGANE Gear is manufactured using precision 3D design and cold-forging technology rather than conventional tooth-cutting processes. This manufacturing method produces a highly durable gear with excellent strength and long-lasting smoothness. It forms the foundation of the reel's powerful and reliable drivetrain.
X SHIP
X SHIP improves the efficiency of the reel's gearing system by combining a large drive gear with an optimally positioned pinion gear. The pinion is supported by bearings at two points, allowing the reel to maintain a smooth and powerful retrieve even when fighting fish under heavy load.
HAGANE BODY
A rigid metal body, using materials such as aluminium and magnesium, helps minimise flex, distortion and twisting. This rigid construction keeps the internal gears properly aligned, contributing to smoother operation and improved durability.
INFINITY DRIVE
Infinity Drive uses an advanced main-shaft support system to significantly reduce rotational resistance. The result is a lighter, smoother retrieve and improved winding power when pressure is applied.
SILENT DRIVE
Shimano has refined the reel's internal construction to minimise tiny gaps, movement and vibration between individual components. This produces a noticeably smoother and quieter rotation throughout the retrieve.
X SHIELD
X SHIELD uses water-resistant seals around key areas of the reel, including the body and side cover, to provide a high level of protection against water intrusion. The construction offers water resistance equivalent to an IPX8 rating in applicable areas.
X PROTECT
X PROTECT combines water-repellent treatment with specialised sealing and labyrinth structures to help prevent seawater from reaching critical internal components without adding unnecessary rotational resistance.
On larger saltwater reels, Shimano uses a contact-type sealing system to provide even greater protection. A low-friction sealing component physically blocks the path of seawater while maintaining smooth operation. The stopper bearing and line roller areas receive additional protection, with the stopper bearing achieving water resistance equivalent to IPX8.
X TOUGH DRAG
The X TOUGH DRAG system uses metal and carbon drag washers positioned above and below the spool support. Designed for demanding saltwater applications, it provides smooth, stable drag pressure while improving heat resistance and long-term durability.
AR-C SPOOL
Shimano's AR-C Spool features a specially shaped spool lip that helps control the way line leaves the spool. This design reduces the likelihood of line problems while improving line management and contributing to longer, smoother casts.
RIGID SUPPORT DRAG
The spool support structure has been reinforced to minimise movement and unwanted play during drag operation. RIGID SUPPORT DRAG helps maintain a smooth and consistent drag output, particularly when fighting powerful fish.
