The Shimano 23 Speedmaster 14000 XSD Spinning Surf Reel delivers a significant upgrade in specifications, features, and design, making it ideal for anglers looking to move beyond entry-level surf reels. Its Super Slow 5 oscillation system combined with Aero Wrap crosslay technology ensures perfectly even line lay, reducing the risk of line tangles when battling large fish. The redesigned Parallel Body positions the reel in alignment with the rod blank, minimizing line friction as it passes the first guide during casts.
Additional innovations such as Rigid Cast technology reduce spool vibration for smoother casting, while the AR-C spool lip decreases line resistance, resulting in longer and more accurate casts—even when using thicker or stiffer lines. The reel’s ample spool capacity holds up to 550 meters of 0.35mm line, and it includes spool reducers for smaller line loads, allowing you to optimize line fill to the edge of the spool.
